Words

Words are the most important means of communication we have, so the word processing tool is an important part of any office suite. Applixware Words fills the bill for office document production quite nicely, for anything from short business letters to longer reports, and presumably books. Nothing about Words is truly spectacular, but nothing is truly disastrous. The major missing feature as far as I'm concerned is the lack of a character style sheet that allows for the creation of, for instance, character types for quotations, authors, and similar things.

If all you are looking for is a word processor, Words may well do the job. If so, the extra functionality provided by the other applications in Applixware Office is a bonus. However, you may want to read a comparison of FreeBSD word processors to see what other choices you have.
